The water dispenser is among the most indispensable options among today’s refrigerator features. What a pleasure to have a glass of clean, chilled, filtered water at the press of a button. Unfortunately, things can go wrong over time causing slowing down the water flow from the dispenser. It could take up to 10 minutes to fill up a glass of water.
If you are experiencing the situation with slow water dispensing, check these tips to fix the issue by yourself.
Read the troubleshooting section of the KitchenAid refrigerator manual. If you no longer have this document, look for a copy here. You will need the model and serial number located on the inside wall of the refrigerator compartment. Keep the manual in an easily accessible place as you may need it later.
If your refrigerator has recently been installed, check that the water tank and water lines have been purged. To verify this, select the water option in the dispenser system, make sure that the lock option for the dispenser is turned off, and press the water dispensing lever or button for 2 minutes to purge excess air from the system. If no water is dispensed after purging, make sure the water supply is turned on.
The homes water supply line connects to the refrigerator’s main water inlet valve, which requires water pressure between 20 and 120 PSI to operate properly. The low pressure may slow down the flow to the water dispenser.
